BROKEN RIVER SKI FIELD BROKEN RIVER SKI FIELD Welcome To Our World Broken River is one of the ski fields close to Christchurch unique "Club" fields, run and maintained by Broken River Ski Club members. We're open to the public. You don't need to be a member to be ski here, so don't be shy, we'd love to see you on our slopes. We are extremely proud of our Club, it's heritage and what our mountain offers. Our strong, close-knit community is as important as the great terrain and riding. The west-facing field receives sun from 9am to 4.30pm "and can be one of the first to open". Mt Lyford is set up perfectly to cater for entry-level and intermediate skiers and snowboarders however there is also plenty of steep challenging terrain off the Terako Rope Tow. Mt Lyford has a centrally located day lodge, with rental equipment available and a cafe. Porters is the closest ski area to Christchurch, with a short access road, fantastic learner slopes and a mountain of terrain for experts. Porters offers some 285 hectares with 678 vertical meters of winter playground for you to enjoy and explore.
