Audiologists are specialists at diagnosing hearing problems and the non-medical treatment of hearing loss. Treatment options include hearing aids, listening devices, counselling and education in listening skills. You can access funding to pay for your Audiologist treatment through ACC, Government Subsidies, Work and Income NZ and War Pensions as long as your audiologist is an approved service provider. Audiologists who are members of the New Zealand Audiological Society (MNZAS) are approved service providers.
Audiologists also work closely with a range of other Health professionals as they may need to refer patients on for further treatment in other areas of specilisation. Health professionals such as Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Specialists, General Practitioners, Speech Language Therapists to name a few. Discussing options with your Audiologist will help clarify any questions you may have.
