Drain Laying Map

Correctly installed drain systems have a very important role in protecting the health of your family and the general public while also maintaining a pollution-free environment. Drains carry our foul or waste water to either a septic tank or a sewer and are an important part of the planning process when building a house or renovating. If your drains need repairing or you are planning new drains then you will need to get a certified or licensed drain layer.

All drain laying work must comply with the Building Code and if a building consent is required then the work must be checked by the building inspector from the Christchurch District Council. A code compliance certificate cannot be issued until the drain laying work has been signed off by the building inspector.

If your drain is blocked you can get a person who isn't registered as a drainlayer to clear the blocked drain, but only if this doesn't involve altering or repairing the inspection pipe or ventilation pipe in any way. If you are unsure what type of work needs to be done but know you have a problem with your drain or pipes then contact one of the drain laying experts listed on Christchurchnz.info.

The most common issue that occurs with a drain are blockages. Blockages occur for a number of reasons including foreign matter dropped down the drain (kids toys are common), tree root intrusion, overloading just to name a few. Clearing the blocked drain is not regarded as drain laying as discussed above, however, anytime a drain is opened up, altered, reconstructed, extended or repaired then that work can only be legally undertaken by a licensed drain layer.

Christchurch drain layers carry a range of equipment that gets the job done in a professional manner. Advanced technology equipment such as small cameras allow professionals a visual in areas that were previously hidden under layers of dirt and often concrete.

Contact a professional, certified drain layer today and get the job done.
