Welcome to Canterbury Spoofing "WTHAO"

Christchurch has been home to the Christchurch Spoofers for around 35 years with likeminded gentlemen meeting twice weekly at the N04 Bar in Merivale.

Spoofing is played by any number of players in a series of rounds to establish the winner using 3 coins of the same denomination. In each round coins are held in a closed fist (from zero to three coins) the objective is to guess the total number of coins held in each person’s hand.

At the beginning of every round each player may hold any quantity of coins, from zero to a maximum of three in their closed fist, extended into the circle of play.

If a number is called it can’t be called again in that round once all players have called their number the coins are shown and the person who called the correct number of coins drops out (in competitions scores will be kept). This process continues until the last man is standing and that person will buy the drinks or half round whatever is agreed on in the school.

Spoofing has grown in popularity and numbers over the years and has a strong link to rugby with many championships being played in cities when a national rugby team will be playing another country.

In New Zealand there are a number of regional competitions held each year, along with the National Spoof which is held in Wellington at the Dockside Restaurant & Bar.

Each year there is also a World Spoofing Championship country to be held in nominated by the current world champ. "Unless it is the year of the RWC "Rugby World Cup" when it is held in the country where the cup is being played".

Spoofing has a World Spoofers web page with information on competitions around NZ and the world.
