Christchurch public hospital is the largest hospital in the South Island of New Zealand located close to the centre of Christchurch city beside the Avon River, opposite Hagley Park and close to the Antigua Boatsheds , and the region of Canterbury.

With a rebuild of over $600 million the hospital enjoys the benefits of modern buildings and having University of Otago School of Medicine campus on site.

Unfortunatley parking is eceptionally limited at the Christchurch public hospital with monitored drop off points and patrolled carparks, this means planning your trip is important.
There is a free shuttle operating from 33 Lichfield Street.

The shuttle operates from 7:15 am – 8:30 pm, seven days a week.

  1. Drive into the car park at 33 Lichfield Street, take a ticket from the machine at the barrier arm, and park anywhere there is a space.
  2. Digital signs show you where to park and how many spaces are left.
  3. Take the stairs or the lift to the designated pick-up area at Level 2. This area is clearly marked and has seating.
  4. The shuttle will pick you up from this area, and bring you back to the same location after your appointment.
